These polypropylene (PP) and polystyrene (PS) tubes are commonly used in RIA, coagulation, and bacteriology applications. The clear polypropylene tubes can endure centrifugation forces up to 3000 RCF, whereas the transparent polystyrene tubes can withstand up to 1400 RCF. PP tubes are resistant to most acids, alkalis, and solvents at room temperature, while PS tubes are suitable for mild bases and weak acids, but not for use with organic solvents.
